The Destiny of Africa Network (DaNet) says it is forging ahead with its low-income housing scheme to help reduce the country’s housing backlog.

DaNet Manicaland chairman Wilson Masokowere stated in a statement on Independence Day celebrations that they are joining the country in celebrating the 44th Independence Day celebrations.

The main celebrations will be held at Murambinda A Primary and Murambinda B Secondary School.

Masokowere chronicled the economic exclusion that the black populace suffered at the hands of the colonists.

He said that because of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s sound economic policies, they have managed to offer an affordable housing scheme.

He said that in Mutare alone, they have offered more than 10,000 stands.

“We are joining the country in celebrating the 44th main Independence Day celebrations at Murambinda growth point,” he said.

“This is a great day for our country and Manicaland Province. I want to thank President Mnangagwa for allowing Manicaland to host this year’s commemorations,” he added.

“Because of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s sound economic policies, we have managed to offer an affordable housing scheme to several residents here in Mutare.”

The celebrations have brought massive development to the district, with the Birchenough-Murambinda road also being rehabilitated.

150 buses are expected to ferry people to the venue from Manicaland province.

Already, the Independence Flame tour of Manicaland Province has generated intense hype ahead of the celebrations.

Vice President Constantino Chiwenga kick-started the tour by lighting the Independence Flame at Magamba district Heroes Acre/Butcher Site in Rusape last week.
