Mutare-based young entrepreneur and Zanu PF youth member, Liberty “Top Striker” Gumende, says youth entrepreneurs are eager for success in order to drive economic growth and reduce unemployment levels.

Gumende was recently appointed as the “Boys DzaMudhara” treasurer for the Manicaland chapter.

A hardware business owner, Gumende said youth entrepreneurs are inspired by President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s vision of empowering young people, especially after the recent appointment of the Zimbabwe Youth Council board.

The board was announced by Youth Empowerment Minister Tinoda Machakaire earlier this month.

“I don’t think 2024 was a bad year for us youths in business. Of course, there were ups and downs, but overall it was a good year,” he said. “We are inspired by President Emmerson Mnangagwa, who is a hardworking man with a vision. We are motivated by his words, ‘brick by brick,’ which reminds us that success is not achieved overnight.”

Gumende also praised Minister of Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Manicaland Adv Michek Mugadza, for his support of youth initiatives in the province.

“We have a minister who wants youth to thrive and always brings business opportunities for us,” he added.

Gumende is currently expanding his hardware business across Manicaland province, aiming to create at least 1,000 jobs for unemployed youth.

Zimbabwe has seen the rise of young entrepreneurs such as entrepreneur Wicknell Chivayo and Pedzisai “Scott” Sakupwanya, among others.
