Harare Mayor Jacob Mafume said the recent address mix-up was an honest error and not an attempt to mislead the public or authorities.

Mafume, recognized for his open-door approach to leadership and his commitment to public service, explained that the confusion surrounding his address was purely administrative.

He reassured Harare residents that he remains dedicated to transparency, asserting that his record of accountability has not been compromised.

“In my role as a public servant, I have always strived to uphold the values of transparency and accountability.

“The recent address mix-up was a genuine mistake. I fully acknowledge the importance of accuracy, and I am committed to rectifying any misunderstanding that may have arisen.”

The mayor further emphasized his willingness to cooperate with any investigations into the matter, stressing that he has nothing to conceal.

“I welcome any scrutiny, as it is an essential part of good governance,” he added. “I have no objections to official verification processes, and my commitment to serving the residents of Harare with integrity remains unwavering.”

This clarification comes in response to recent media reports suggesting that Mafume may have provided a false address.

Sources close to the mayor confirmed that the issue stemmed from an administrative error, not from any deliberate intent to mislead.
