In a significant development for the agricultural sector, a major deal has been successfully brokered to export lychees from Manicaland.
Shipment of some of the consignments is expected to start next week, a development expected to boost local farmers in areas like Burma Valley to expand into new markets.
In a communique on their microblogging site – Twitter, ZimTrade, the national trade development and promotion organization said they are providing guidance and crucial intelligence on emerging markets on effective market entry techniques to farmers.
“New markets unlocked, a deal has been brokered to export lychees from Manicaland, with consignments set to leave in the coming weeks.
“Today ZimTrade visited farmers in the Burma Valley to assist with intel on new markets and market entry techniques,” reads part of the communique.
The agreement to export lychees marks a pivotal milestone for Manicaland’s agricultural industry.
The region’s lychee farmers, known for their dedication and high-quality produce, can now tap into previously untapped markets, unlocking new avenues for economic growth and development.
The deal not only presents an opportunity for the farmers to showcase their exceptional products but also signifies an important stride towards diversifying Zimbabwe’s export portfolio.
Business analyst Mr Godfrey Dzeka said the gesture demonstrates the government’s commitment to supporting and empowering local farmers.
“By sharing invaluable market insights and equipping them with effective market entry techniques, ZimTrade enhances the farmers’ competitive edge and maximize their success in the global marketplace,” he said.
