HARARE City Council (HCC) housing principal officer Edgar Dzehonye is under fire after revelations that he is one of the capital’s biggest land barons, allegedly abusing his position to acquire vast tracts of land.

Sources at Town House claim and allege that Dzehonye, responsible for land allocation in Harare, has used his office to amass thousands of stands through companies like Pure Gold and Shelter Zimbabwe.

He is also allegedly being accused of clashing with multiple individuals, including Harare resident Gilbert Bgwende, whom he allegedly targeted working together with Gertrude Dumba via Cabox Private Limited.

A Town House insider alleges: “Dzehonye controls 10,000 stands in Mabvuku alone—making him possibly Zimbabwe’s largest land baron.”

The Commission of Inquiry into Harare has already exposed widespread corruption in city land dealings. Dzehonye, previously arrested over land disputes, was recently grilled by the commission over irregular allocations.
