Madlambuzi, Zimbabwe – Police in Madlambuzi have apprehended Calbert Mpofu (30) in connection with a murder investigation following the death of his uncle, Lisani Dube (46).
The tragic incident occurred on November 10 when Dube was fatally struck on the forehead with a knobkerrie during a beer-drinking gathering at Kungubo Business Centre the previous day.
In an update on the social media handles, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said the suspect is currently in police custody, awaiting trial.
“Police in Madlambuzi have arrested Calbert Mpofu (30) in connection with a case of murder in which his uncle, Lisani Dube (46) died on 10/12/23 after being struck with a knobkerrie on the forehead during a beer drinking spree on 09/12/23 at Kungubo Business Centre,” reads part of the communique.
In a separate case, police in Plumtree are investigating another murder that took place on November 11, 2023.
The victim, Oscar Muleya (35), was discovered lifeless with visible bruises on his body and signs of strangulation on his neck.
The grim discovery was made along a fireguard located between Orange Groove Farm and the Bulawayo/Plumtree railway line.
Law enforcement officials are urging anyone with information regarding either case to come forward and assist with the investigations.
