Agilitee Appoints Sarah Thompson to its Board

International electric vehicles company, Agilitee Limited, which has a footprint in Zimbabwe, has appointed top American executive Ms Sarah Thompson to its board.

This comes as the company is currently restructuring its operations, after relocating its headquarters to the United States.

In a statement on Friday, Agilitee chief executive Dr Mandla Lamba said:

 “Agilitee Limited. (“Agilitee” or the “Company”) is pleased to welcome Sarah Thompson to its board of directors. Sarah joined the board of Agilitee in December 2024, she will also be joining the leadership team of Agilitee leadership effectively from 1 February 2025. Another announcement will be made to that effect.

“We are thrilled to welcome Sarah to the Board of Directors. As a team, we look forward to the expertise Sarah brings to the table, such as her proven track record driving revenue and business growth, and we know she is going to be an invaluable addition to our leadership team and board.”

According to Dr Lamba, Thompson brings over 25 years of executive experience to Agilitee.

“She focuses on corporate finance and operations with early-stage, turnaround, and high-growth companies. Her industry experience includes managing industrial manufacturing, supply chains, and logistics for complex server systems, auto parts, composite materials, and medical devices. 

“Sarah’s passion for improving systems and implementing highly effective teams has helped numerous companies rapidly scale through a reinvestment strategy.

“For the past 10 years, Sarah has also supported numerous community-based non-profit organisations. Her passion and commitment to giving back to the local community align with Agilitee’s core values across the globe.”

 In an interview, Thompson said she was “thrilled to be joining the Agilitee Board.”

“Agilitee is uniquely positioned to make a difference in bringing innovative solutions to people around the world. Agilitee’s relentless pursuit of building high-quality products and opening new markets has been like watching a miracle unfold. Carrying the Agilitee way forward, there are no problems we as a team cannot overcome,” she said.

The company is in the process of completing its board restructuring as it has moved its headquarters to the United States of America.

Agilitee was founded by South African entrepreneur Dr Mandla Lamba, in October 2018, even though the company’s idea was conceived in 2015 and commercialised as a business in 2018.

The company’s electric scooters have been the preferred delivery scooters in Africa because of the cost-cutting opportunity they present and the ecosystem that allows the charging and swapping of batteries to be completely at zero cost due to its usage of solar charging facilities which come at no cost to Agilitee’s customers.In Zimbabwe, Agilitee opened its branch at Joina City in the capital in 2022.
